Ligno sulphonates are in a way high molecule sugars having no food value and very viscid in solution. Due to its microfibrile properties and inertness it is an essential ingredient of pesticides and agro chemicals as a stabilizing agent; it is used in cosmetics animal feed as binding material and commercial adhesives as matrix. The most voluminous and important use is for early setting and waterproofing of cement and concrete. At present almost the entire requirement building bridges and structures in the country is being imported in powder form. The scope of business of this product cannot be overemphasized especially when produced from effluent agro based paper mills.
